Uttarakhand, popularly known as Devbhoomi or the Land of Gods, is home to countless temples and attracts pilgrims all year. Among the several holy places and circuits that pilgrims visit in Uttarakhand, the Char Dham Yatra is one of the most popular. This Yatra, or pilgrimage, takes you to four holy places high in the Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. In Hindi, ‘char’ indicates four, while ‘dham’ refers to sacred sites.

The high-altitude shrines are closed for around six months each year, opening in the summer (April or May) and closing with the arrival of winter (October or November). As a result, the pilgrimage begins in Yamunotri, then moves on to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and lastly Badrinath.

The Yamunotri temple in the Uttarkashi district is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and is located in a small valley near the source of the River Yamuna.
Uttarkashi also has Gangotri, which is devoted to the Goddess Ganga, the most sacred of all Indian rivers.
Kedarnath, located in the Rudraprayag area, is a shrine devoted to Lord Shiva.
Badrinath, home of the famous Badrinarayan Temple, is devoted to Lord Vishnu.

Day Wise Itinerary

Day 01

Haridwar to Barkot

Description

The journey begins in the early morning from Haridwar, after a bath in the sacred Ganga River. After breakfast, head towards Barkot. Upon arrival, check into the hotel to rest, eat, and spend the night in Barkot.

Day 02

Barkot to Yamunotri

Description

Proceed to Janki Chatti. Begin your 5-kilometer trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri. Take a holy dip in Garam Kund, then do pooja and darshan before trekking back to Janki Chatti, driving back to Barkot, and spending the night at the hotel after dinner.

Day 03

Barkot to Uttarkashi

Description

Drive to Uttarkashi en route to the Vishwanath Temple and check into a hotel for the night.

Day 04

Uttarkashi to Gangotri

Description

Drive to Gangotri in the early morning, after breakfast. Visit the Gangnani Hot Spring on route. Take a sacred dive at Kund. Later, drive to Gangotri through the lovely Harsil valley. Upon arrival in Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges, also known as Bhagirathi at its source. Perform Pooja and Darshan, then take some time to rest in the gorgeous surroundings. Later, drive back to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.

Day 05

Uttarkashi to Guptkashi

Description

After breakfast, we took a long trip to Sitapur to Guptkashi. Your overnight stay in Sitapur/Guptkashi.

Day 06

Sitapur to Kedarnath

Description

Wake up early and prepare for the Dham Kedarnath. Our driver will take you from Sonprayag to Gaurikund, where you will begin your 18 km trek to the Kedarnath temple. (You can also select Dolli, Pony, Pitthu, and Helicopter on your own.) Arrive at Kedarnath and proceed to the evening darshan after resting. Dinner and an overnight stay at the ashram.

Day 07

Kedarnath to Guptkashi

Description

Wake up early, about 4 a.m., to watch the morning darshan; in the morning, you can enter the GarbhaGraha and observe the Bull's hump. After breakfast, trek from Kedarnath to Sitapur/Guptkashi. Arrive in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 08

Guptkashi to Badrinath

Description

Wake up early. Have breakfast. Sightseeing in Chopta Meadows. Arrive in Badrinath by 7:30 PM. Check into the hotel and have an evening darshan at Badrinath.

Day 09

Description

After morning darshan at the temple, drive to Mana, the first Indian village, and then to Srinagar. Overnight stay in Srinagar. Visit Vishnu Prayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, and Rudraprayag along the journey. Srinagar is approximately 188 miles from Badrinath.

Day 10

Srinagar to Haridwar

Description

After breakfast, leave for Haridwar. Drive via Devprayag and Rishikesh. Evening Aarti in Haridwar, and your tour concludes with Dinu Travels.
