SafarCabby Self Drive Car Rentals In Jaipur FAQs

Question 1

What documents do I need to rent a self drive car in Jaipur?

Accepted Answer

You need a valid Indian driving licence (or an international driving permit if you hold a foreign licence), a government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar or passport, and a selfie or KYC photograph as required by the vendor. Most SafarCabby vendors in Jaipur also require a refundable security deposit at pickup. Minimum age for self drive rental is 21 years on most vehicles.

Question 2

Can I drive a self drive car from Jaipur to Jodhpur or Udaipur?

Accepted Answer

Yes, outstation self drive from Jaipur to Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar, Ranthambore, and other Rajasthan destinations is available through SafarCabby vendors. Outstation routes require prior approval at the time of booking - confirm your destination when you complete the booking so the vendor can prepare the correct outstation documentation. Per-kilometre charges apply beyond the included daily limit.

Question 3

What is the fuel policy for self drive cars in Jaipur?

Accepted Answer

The standard fuel policy on SafarCabby is full-to-full. You receive the vehicle with a full fuel tank and return it full. Any shortfall in fuel at return is charged by the vendor at local pump rates. Fill up before you reach the return point - there are fuel stations on all major Jaipur exit roads including NH48, NH52, and the Tonk Road.

Question 4

Which vehicle is best for a Jaipur heritage circuit self drive?

Accepted Answer

For city-only sightseeing covering Amber Fort, Nahargarh, Jaigarh, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar, a hatchback like the Swift or WagonR is comfortable and easy to park. For outstation drives to Ranthambore, Jodhpur, or the Aravalli hill routes, a compact SUV like the Creta, Brezza, or Nexon gives you better comfort over longer distances and slightly more ground clearance on rural roads near destinations like Abhaneri and Sariska.

Question 5

Are there any restricted roads in Jaipur that require special permits for self drive cars?

Accepted Answer

No special driving permits are required for standard Jaipur city routes or the major outstation highways. However, the road inside Amber Fort's immediate complex area is restricted to authorised vehicles - park at the designated lot at the base and walk or take the elephant path up. For Ranthambore National Park, your self drive car can be used to reach Sawai Madhopur town, but safari vehicles inside the park are park-operated gypsies booked separately.

Question 6

What are the best pickup points for self drive car rental in Jaipur?

Accepted Answer

SafarCabby vendors in Jaipur offer pickup from Jaipur International Airport (Sanganer), Jaipur Railway Station, Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, Civil Lines, and Malviya Nagar. Airport pickup is available for both arrivals and pre-departure collection. If you're staying in the old city area near MI Road or Bani Park, confirm the exact delivery address with your vendor at the time of booking.

Question 7

How much does self drive car rental in Jaipur cost for a full day?

Accepted Answer

Self drive car rental in Jaipur starts at approximately ₹800–₹1,200 per day for a hatchback and ₹1,500–₹2,200 per day for a compact SUV. Prices vary based on vehicle type, rental duration, outstation or local use, and seasonal demand. The peak winter travel window from December to February and the Pushkar Fair period in November typically see higher demand and faster booking fill-up. Compare current rates from multiple vendors on SafarCabby before confirming.

Question 8

Can I take a self drive car from Jaipur to the Sambhar Salt Lake or Abhaneri?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both Sambhar Salt Lake (about 80 km west on the Nagaur Road) and Abhaneri's Chand Baori step-well (about 95 km east on NH21 near Bandikui) are within standard self drive range from Jaipur. These destinations are not covered by most organised tours, which makes self drive the most practical option. Confirm with your vendor that these locations fall within the approved local or outstation radius for your rental agreement.
