There are two primary routes for the Amarnath Yatra: the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal route. The Pahalgam path, while longer, has a gentler incline, making it more suitable for elderly devotees. 

In contrast, the Baltal route is much shorter but steeper and more challenging. Both routes are well-connected by road. Important Things to Consider for Amarnath Yatra 2025

• Shri Amarnath pilgrimage is for a set period beginning on an announced date, usually on the auspicious day of “Skandshasthi” according to the Hindu calendar, and ending on “Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan)”.
• The process for obtaining the mandatory medical or health certificate for the Amarnath Yatra typically begins a few months in advance, often around April or May, ahead of the official pilgrimage season.
• July is considered the best month for undertaking the Yatra, as most of the snow has melted, making the trek more manageable. The usual Amarnath Yatra temperature during this period remains 10°C to 25°C. 
• Pilgrims below 13 years of age or above a certain age limit are not allowed to participate. Additionally, pregnant women beyond six weeks of pregnancy are not permitted to undertake the journey.

• Overnight accommodation is available at Baltal, Nunwan, Sheshnag, and Panjtarni in camps equipped with prefabricated huts. These facilities are arranged by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board through private contractors and are priced between INR 250 to 375 or more per night.

How to Reach Amarnath Cave?
