SafarCabby Car And Taxi Rentals In Udaipur FAQs

Question 1

Can I get a cab from Udaipur airport to the old city late at night?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Maharana Pratap Airport is 22 km from the old city, and the drive takes 35 to 45 minutes depending on traffic near Sukhadia Circle. Pre-booking your airport transfer in Udaipur through SafarCabby means your driver is at the arrivals gate when you land - no prepaid counter queues, no negotiating at 11pm.

Question 2

Is the road to Kumbhalgarh safe for a regular sedan?

Accepted Answer

The main highway to Kumbhalgarh is fine for a sedan up to the fort base. The final approach road is narrow and has tight turns, but a Dzire or Etios handles it without trouble. If you're combining Kumbhalgarh with Ranakpur in one day, an SUV gives you more comfort on the longer stretch through the Pali hills.

Question 3

How much does a full-day car rental in Udaipur cost for the city circuit?

Accepted Answer

A full-day local car hire in Udaipur for the standard city circuit - City Palace, Fateh Sagar, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Sajjangarh - starts around ₹1,500 for a hatchback and ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 for a sedan with driver. Rates vary by vendor and season; compare options on SafarCabby before confirming.

Question 4

What is the best vehicle for the Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur combined day trip?

Accepted Answer

An Innova Crysta or Ertiga SUV is the standard choice for this circuit. The round trip is roughly 220 km, the roads include forest stretches and one ghat section, and a family of four with luggage will find the extra space useful. Innova Crysta price in Udaipur for this full-day outstation trip runs approximately ₹2,800 to ₹3,200.

Question 5

Does SafarCabby offer self drive cars in Udaipur?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Self drive car rental in Udaipur is available through SafarCabby for travellers who prefer to drive independently. It works well for the Eklingji–Nagda circuit or the Badi Lake road, where having a driver wait adds unnecessary cost. Check availability and licence requirements on the self drive Udaipur page.

Question 6

Is the road to Mount Abu manageable from Udaipur in a day?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but plan for a full day. Mount Abu is 160 km from Udaipur, and the ghat road in the final stretch is steep with sharp bends. Leave Udaipur by 7:30am to reach the Dilwara temples before the midday crowd. The drive back should start no later than 4:30pm to clear the ghat before dark.

Question 7

What road should I avoid during evening rush hour in Udaipur?

Accepted Answer

Bhupalpura Road near Fateh Sagar backs up badly between 5pm and 6:30pm, particularly near the Moti Magri roundabout. If you're returning from the lake-side attractions at that hour, ask your driver to use the Surajpol route instead. It adds a few minutes but avoids the worst of the jam.

Question 8

Can I book a tempo traveller from Udaipur for a group heritage tour?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Groups of 10 or more travelling to Kumbhalgarh, Chittorgarh, or Ranakpur find tempo traveller hire in Udaipur more practical than splitting across multiple cabs. It keeps the group together and cuts the per-head cost significantly on full-day outstation circuits.
